With his show greenlit by Face Front Blog, a camera crew soon began following the Falcon on his adventures in his brand-new show: Sam Says.

In the first episode, titled “That Blue Feeling”, Sam began by introducing himself to the world as Sam Wilson, the Falcon, an Avenger.

Sam continued by recalling that the way he’d actually become an Avenger was… unconventional. While searching for Bucky after the fallout from the Triskelion battle against the Winter Soldier, Sam called Captain America to inform him he had a promising sighting in Bucharest.

Unfortunately for Sam, Steve was in the midst of the Age of Ultron. He told Sam that the team was in the country of Sokovia, which was now flying. Sam jumped at the chance to assist, but Cap deemed it unnecessary, stating they already had Rhodes, War Machine, on site. Sam was put off by the fact that The Avengers had called War Machine first, but Steve reminded Sam that he had told him only two days ago “Avenging is your world”.

Sam reluctantly conceded, insisting that he be called on the next mission. This prompted Steve to, on the spot, declare the Falcon an official Avenger. Sam was beside himself with disbelief, making sure Cap meant it. Steve was however confronted by Ultron, telling Sam they’d talk later, leaving him to continue searching for Bucky.

Steve confessed to the camera that he had no regrets making Sam an Avenger, citing his record as a soldier and dedication as a fighter. However, he did admit that he had to get Sam off of the phone as quickly as possible.

Sam continued his interview, revealing that something about the way he became an Avenger didn’t feel official. He had been there with Wanda, Vision, and Rhodey. Captain America and Black Widow inducted them all into the team. But to Sam, it felt empty. He felt he was there, but not really there.

As an example, he recalled a day where he and the team were stationed in Avengers Tower when suddenly Iron Man picked up an alert that the city was under attack by the dragon known as Fin Fang Foom. Captain America wasted no time assembling the Avengers, including himself, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel, who had come to Earth because Nick Fury paged her after being blipped and decided to stay to help clean up the mess left after the Infinity War.

Sam was excited to see some action, but Cap ordered him to stay behind and monitor the situation from the tower. Sam pushed back, claiming that he could fly, making him useful against Fin Fang Foom. But Steve held firm, assuring Sam if they needed reconnaissance or extraction he’d be called, but otherwise was to remain in the tower. Disappointed, Sam had hoped to at least hang out with Scott Lang, Ant-Man, to pass the time. But Cap called to Scott, ordering him to “get the lead out” and join the team on the mission, leaving Sam even more frustrated they’d take Ant-Man over the Falcon!

He expressed to cameras that he sometimes just doesn’t feel like part of the team. He recalled an instance where War Machine was sharing a story about a tank and a palace to T’Challa, the Black Panther. But when Falcon attempted to join in, the conversation abruptly ended with Rhodey claiming he was late for an armor upgrade and Black Panther declaring he had to return to Wakanda, leaving Sam dejected and confused.

Rhodey later admitted to the cameras he doesn’t mind Sam, but feels he talks too much and needs more friends. Sam, on the other hand, said he just waiting to prove himself. To let the world know what the Falcon could really do.

While lying in the tower, feeling bored and useless, an Avengers Priority Alert suddenly came through the computer. Sam answered to find a distress call from Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow. She asked if anyone else was present, but Sam told her they were all fighting a dragon. She reluctantly revealed that she and Hawkeye had their backs against the wall and needed extraction. She began to give Sam instructions to relay to Tony, but Sam cut her off, saying there wasn’t time. He had their coordinates and let Widow know he was on her way, hanging up before she could get another word in. Finally, it was the Falcon’s time to take off.
