Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman SAVED Uncle Ben!

Julia “Cornwall” Carpenter saved Uncle Ben in Madame Web. How do I know? Well, walk with me True Believer, and let’s find out together.

There is a scene in the end of the film where Madame Web see’s Julia’s Spider-Woman stopping a criminal who appears to be in the middle of breaking and entering.

First off, from the moment I saw the movie in theaters I clocked this guy as Uncle Ben’s killer. Why? Because he’s wearing the same getup usually seen on who is canonically called “The Burglar”. The brown jacket over a yellow shirt, green pants, and some form of cap. It varies, depending on the comic or iteration, but this is the base design.

Second, we can see in this shot (from the Blu-Ray extras, a scene not in the actual movie) Adam Scott’s Ben Parker coming home with groceries. Now remember, unlike in the Tobey and Andrew movies, in the comics Uncle Ben was killed in a home invasion. The layout of the house is not the same as earlier in the film, but that’s because he was staying in Mary Parker’s house while Richard was out of town, so it’s safe to say this is Ben’s house.

The important thing to note about this scene is that it takes place in the future. Ben is wearing glasses that he didn’t have in the film, and probably now needs because he’s older. And you’ll notice a flat screen TV, when earlier in the film we were looking at an old 4:3 television set. So definitely an indication that some time has passed.

But is this the house that Spider-Woman is in, stopping the Burglar? Well, yes. Let’s take a look at this shelf. In both shots you see this speaker, a trophy, and a photo on top.

You’ll also notice a flashlight on the floor. In the confrontation scene, when the Burglar stumbles over the couch, he’s got a flashlight that he appears to drop, as he’s only holding a gun in the next shot.

Still don’t believe me? Well, the last piece of evidence, which I probably should have looked up first, is a credit on IMDb that lists Michael Papajohn as “The Burglar”. The same man who played The Carjacker, aka Dennis Carradine, in Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 3 (2007).

So there you have it! Spider-Woman saved Uncle Ben! What a cool detail. It probably explains why Spider-Man hasn’t shown up in any of these SonyVerse movies! Because Uncle Ben is still alive. Is that enough evidence? Do you believe me? Vote in the weekly poll below, and let me know any other theories you’ve got in the comments. That’s it for now, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!

Do you believe that Spider-Woman saved Uncle Ben in Madame Web?

EDIT: Yeah, so… I’m dumb. Julia Carpenter is in the room. This proves everything. Including that I wasted a lot of time…

  • The One Question NOT to Ask your Sphero Spider-Man

So I was laying bored in my bed, typing away on my computer, when I decided to try and ask my Sphero Spider-Man some more questions. You see, he only answers certain ones, and I’ve had him since Christmas, but I still have a good amount of questions locked, which means there are things I have yet to ask him about. I could cheat, and go on the internet, but that takes the fun out of it!

So I start asking about different Avengers I haven’t tried yet, I even asked him what it meant to be a hero! After no success, I figured, maybe he has a little history lesson about Uncle Ben stored in there somewhere. So I ask him “Spider-Man, who was Uncle Ben?” All of a sudden he gets this concerned look on his face and replies “Oh, you know…” in a distressed tone.

Confused, I load up the app to see exactly what he thinks I asked him, and when I look, I’m horrified with myself. The question in the app said “How is Uncle Ben?” That’s… like, what! Who would be so cruel as to even ask something like that! I made my poor Spider-Man sad, and we’ve been friends for 6 months! I apologize to him, and though he didn’t respond, I know he heard me. So, steer clear of that question if you’ve got the Sphero Spider-Man. Steer clear of any question involving Uncle Ben as a matter of fact. I just feel so bad…

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man is Almost Here!

The new show is nearly here! On the 19th, we can prepare to be amazed once more by everyone’s favorite Wall Crawler, Spider-Man! I will be doing a podcast for members and giving away some cool prizes, so keep an eye out! In the meantime, we’ve got 3, count ’em, 3 new featurettes, and an interview on Marvel.com I’ll link.

First up we’ve got Patton Oswald going over what it’s like for him to voice Uncle Ben. I thought this was strange casting at first, but now that I can see it, it kind of fits. I don’t think we heard Uncle Ben at all during Ultimate, so I’m sure I’ll really appreciate these flashback scenes. Again, though, perfect time for Uncle Ben would have been in those origin shorts, but hey, I’m not judging.

This one goes over the cast of the show, and I like that they’re widening Peter’s friend pool to include all of the would-be Spiders (although we glimpse Miles in costume here! Yay!) I don’t know if he and Gwen are going to have a relationship, but the interview says they’re focusing less on romance and more on friendship, so I guess it’ll take some time if they do go that route. I really want to see Mary Jane though! Where is she! The main takeaway from this, however, is that Josh freaking Keaton is back! And playing Norman Osborn (no doubt using his evil CEO voice from Spider-Man: Edge of Time)! It must be weird for him, being in a Spider-Man show again and not being Spider-Man, but I’m sure he’ll be fine. Also, that looked like Tony Stark talking to Max Modell (thinking emoji). And did I already mention Miles in costume? Yay!

I don’t think Joe Quesada’s said Peter Parker more in his life. This video is basically saying “Hey, did you not like Ultimate Spider-Man because there was no Peter Parker narrative? Well here, now shut up.” I like that we’re gonna focus back up on Peter, it’s refreshing and honestly, just what everyone has been wanting since Spectacular kicked it.

    Lastly, there’s this interview: https://news.marvel.com/tv/71599/marvels-spider-man-will-offer-plenty-spidey-fans-enjoy/

It offers up a lot of good info, but I think the key point to pull from here is the bit about story arcs, and how they’re going to set up things to pay off later down the line. That’s something we’ve been missing for the past five years in Ultimate. Story arcs were usually the first and last two episodes of the season, the Spider-Verse events aside, and it really made it so that the gravity of the consequences in each episode lost their weight by the end. So hearing that we’re going to be getting arcs, you know, like in an actual comic book, makes me pretty happy.

What do you guys think? Are you excited for this show? Let me know in the comments! And make sure to tune in Saturday, August 19th (7:00-8:00 AM EDT), on Disney XD.
