  • Fate of The Defenders

A brand new Face Front Original is here! Face Front presents: Fate of The Defenders!

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist gather in their last stand against destiny. Because you can dread it, and run from it, but it still arrives. Find out what really happened to the Defenders. You might wish you never knew…

Now I know that was a little depressing, and I do apologize. It was not an easy video to make, emotionally. But then again, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil all getting cancelled after each put their best work forth was a hard pill to swallow. I decided to tribute them somehow, and this was it.

I didn’t come up with the ‘Thanos snapped them out of existence’ idea, but I figured I could take it beyond a meme and put it on film. And with Jessica Jones and Punisher most assuredly on the chopping block, I very well may do a sequel if those get cancelled as well.

I used the Daredevil, Punisher, and Jessica Jones figures from the Defenders Marvel Legends wave, Iron Fist from the Dr. Strange wave and Luke Cage from the Claire Temple two-pack. I also used Thor from the Infinity War wave 2 and the Build-A-Figure Thanos from wave 1. I did all the voices, including Jessica Jones. Not easy because I’m a 25-year-old man, but I’ve got a fix for that you’ll all see real soon!

I put a solid amount of work into this, and I just hope that you guys can enjoy it, you know, once you finish crying.

Remember, you can also catch this in the Videos section or in the HQ under Face Front Originals!

  • Marvel Problems #012

So technically, technically, Spider-Man had the date first. Well, at least they announced it first. Still though, it’s really not a good situation. Both cater to Marvel fans and both demand many hours of our precious time. I mean, what do we do? Stop playing what will probably be the best Spider-Man game ever to watch Iron Fist or vice versa? I don’t think so! And we have to watch Iron Fist because people drop spoilers online! I don’t know, but hey, at least we have something to do while Spider-Man installs…

  • Welcome to Marvel City

Hasbro, eat your heart out! Welcome to the future! Welcome, to Marvel City! I had time, I was bored, so why not?

Looks like All-New, All-Different Spider-Man has a bird’s eye of the entire scene below!

    A city of heroes…

    Bound by honor…

To protect it at all costs!

Captain America, Sentinel of Liberty and the First Avenger, never relents in the fight against the forces of HYDRA!

Black Bolt has something to say, and when he talks, people listen!

Wasp patrols the skies, while Thor summons strength from Odin in Asgard above! And Star-Lord’s always ready for action! But where’d his tunes go?

Of course, no one stands a chance when Iron Man and War Machine team up to take down the bad guys!

Lifelong friends Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel are two women you DO NOT want to mess with! Unless you want a venom blast and a cosmic punch to the face! And is that Vision phasing through the ground behind them?

Speaking of Venom, what rock did this Sinister Symbiote crawl from under?

Falcon soars high, but a particularly sneaky Black Cat gets away with some pilfered goods! Oh Felicia, will you ever learn?

By the Ruby Rings of the Crimson Bands of the Hoary Hosts… Whatever! Doctor Strange is here to make with the hocus pocus!

Black Widow gives Hawkeye a lift on her sweet ride, they always worked better as a team! Let’s just hope that Ms. Marvel can stop fangirling long enough to Embiggen!

‘Ol J. Jonah Jameson isn’t too happy with all these superheroes tearing things up outside of Bugle offices! It doesn’t help that Giant-Man is mocking him either…

There are tales… legends of a Spirit of Vengeance… The Ghost Rider, making the best of a deal with the devil!

What did Deadpool get himself into this time? Maybe a certain Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Mad Titan wasn’t too fond of Lady Death’s fascination with this clown…

Looks like the newest Spider-Man on the block, Miles Morales, snagged a classic Spidey baddy, the Shocker! Great job Miles!

Meanwhile, the Immortal Iron Fist has engaged the terrible Taskmaster in combat! Don’t use your best moves Danny, you know he can copy them!

Storm and Silk watch over the city, a valiant long-time member of the X-Men, and a Spider trying to find her place in the world after 10 years away…

Bravery is not measured in size, and Rocket and Baby Groot prove that throwing down with one of the biggest Marvel villains out there, the Rhino!

But there are always bigger Marvel villains, lurking in the distance…

But here to protect his city is none other than Daredevil! Keeping a watchful… ear, from above! And Spider-Gwen aka Ghost Spider doesn’t look stressed, she’s listening to the latest hit from her band the Mary Janes! Wait… there’s Star-Lord’s tunes! Dang it Gwen!

But down below, titans clash, as Hulk pins down one of his worst foes, the Abomination!

This Marvel power couple knows no bounds, Cyclops and Phoenix are always here to save the day, and mutant-kind!

And bow down (wait, they don’t do that there…) for the King of Wakanda, Black Panther! With Okoye by his side, nothing’s getting past him! Wakanda forever!

So there you have it. Heroes…

    That swore to fight.

    To stand for justice.

To Assemble. In our darkest hours.

And to let us know, that they will always be here.

  • Top 10 Moments in Luke Cage Season 2

So Luke Cage Season 2 finally dropped this past Friday, and I’m about to break down my personal top 10 favorite moments from this season of the show. Up front, be aware that this list contains SPOILERS for Luke Cage Season 2. So if you haven’t seen it yet or aren’t done binging, DO NOT read this!!!

    10: Bushmaster Beat-down

Luke is invincible, and can’t really be hurt. So when Bushmaster delivers a beatdown, that put me way off guard. Dang, was it hard to watch Bushmaster TKO him like that!

    9: Luke Cage Field Day

Most of the time the Netflix MCU shows can be, well, pretty depressing. The tone is generally darker, so you appreciate the moments of levity you get. This little scene of Luke demonstrating his powers was a nice, fun moment, and a chance for our hero to stop brooding for a minute and enjoy having super powers.

    8: The Bridge

The reason I like this fight is because it proves that Luke is better than Bushmaster. He got caught off guard the first time, and this fight was payback! The fight itself was amazing, and the fight choreography has way improved over the first season. I really got into it, I was really rooting for Luke. Too bad Bushmaster cheated.

    7: Battle at Rand

This was a great episode all in all. I liked Luke, Misty, Reverend Lucas, Tilda, and Mariah all stuck together and forced to hide; the way each character played off of each other was perfect. But when Bushmaster showed up, and the boxing started, that was just what I needed. Luke taking on Bushmaster, learning from all of his previous fights, Misty holding the fort upstairs. And Luke finally put Bushmaster down! It was great.

    6: Hunt for Piranha

This is where we first really got to see Misty’s new arm in action! When she and Luke are hunting down Piranha, and they have to drop some fools, I couldn’t stop smiling. Luke protecting Misty with his bulletproof-ness, Misty laying the smack down on some sucka’s, truly great stuff.

    5: Shades goes Soft

Like a dang Otis Spunkmeyer cookie! Shades went soft as a freaking marshmallow. I never liked that Shades was always able to kill people, get away with it, and go about his day. But after he watched that guy burn to death, and had to put two in his, uh, ‘partner’, Shades didn’t even have the gusto to put down an unarmed witness to his latest crime. In fact, he flipped on Mariah! Which was a wonderful moment for me, because the fact that she, and he, kept slipping through the cop’s fingers on luck and circumstance was getting on my last dang nerve.

    4: Daughters of the Dragon

Colleen and Misty. With one arm mind you. Teaming up and kicking butt. Nothing more to it, it was awesome.

    3: Luke/Bushmaster Team-Up

I was fully expecting Bushmaster to get lit up like a Sweet Christmas tree when he went to take on the Chinese drug lord alone. But when Luke came in for an assist, not only was I pleasantly surprised, but the ensuing fight scene was glorious. It was here that I also realized Bushmaster isn’t really a villain. Like, seriously, his methods left something to be desired, but Bushmaster was trying to take down Mariah the entire time. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

2: Luke, Misty (and even Shades) v. Bushmaster

The fight in Harlem’s Paradise was the best of the series. A Nightshade-jacked Bushmaster on a mad dash for Mariah, and the only things standing in his way were Luke, Misty, and Shades. Let the fight commence! It was like Juggernaut mode in Halo. It was close quarters, intense, and epic! Easily the finale moment, the fact that there was a full episode after that baffles me.

    1: Patty Cake

Power Man and Iron Fist. That really does belong on a shirt. No one can deny that the single best moment in the show was that sweet combo move between Luke and Danny. Slamming the full power of the Iron Fist against Luke Cage’s indestructible hands and clearing the room of any and all hostiles! We wanted Heroes for Hire, and this was all we could have asked for and more!

So those were my top moments, what were yours? Comment down below and let me know!

  • 10 Best Moments in Marvel’s The Defenders

So it’s been over a week, and I’m sure that you all have had a chance to watch The Defenders by now! If you haven’t, well then, what are you doing here!? Go finish! Shoo! Shoo! But for those of you who have, I’m going to break down what are, in my opinion, wait for it… the 10 best moments in The Defenders! Yay! Alright, enough buildup, here we go! Oh, and case you haven’t realized by now, SPOILER WARNING!

    10: The Restaurant

When The Avengers came out, some of the best scenes involved the interactions of characters we’d seen separately for 4 years across five different movies come together for the first time. How would Cap react to the modern age, or Iron Man to Norse Gods? What we get in the restaurant scenes of The Defenders asks and answers those same questions.

I have to say, the heroes coming together, turning the restaurant into a temporary base of operations and the conversation that followed was just what I wanted from all of these clashing personalities. The group being creeped out by Daredevil’s powers, Iron Fist’s amazement at how strong Jessica is and how he attempted to form them into a super team. My favorite moment was when Jessica called Matt out on being Daredevil, and ultimately forced him to join the group. My one concern was that Stick would ruin the scene, but luckily he only enhanced it, and provided some emotional weight for Matt.

9: Jessica Jones MVP Part 1

Speaking of the restaurant, my next best moment is where Alexandra corners our heroes and sics Elektra on them. And just as Elektra is about to (try to) cut them to pieces, BOOM! Jessica slides the car through the window and rejoins the group, Chinese Drive Through (that’s the name of the song in that moment, look it up) heroically blaring behind her. Jessica Jones, MVP!

8: Misty Knight Loses Her Arm

Okay, so it’s not a very happy moment, but there are certain reasons I like this. One, it leads to what we all have wanted since Misty was introduced, the bionic arm! We got a glimpse in the Season 2 photo that was put out yesterday, and man does it look great!

The next reason I love this scene is because, for seemingly the first time, Misty did something heroic. All throughout Luke Cage and even The Defenders, it’s hard to root for Misty because she’s always arresting and interrogating the heroes, who we’re supposed to be rooting for. So when she jumps in the way of Bakuto’s blade to protect Claire, for the first time I felt that Misty was a hero.

    7: The Immortal Iron Fist

This is more like two moments in one, but when Danny unleashed the full power of the Iron Fist, it was freaking awesome! In the scene where he’s fighting the team off from taking him captive and in the mine where Luke tells him to “Light it up”. Seeing such raw power from the Iron Fist is a sight to behold, since he only had, like, one big power move in the entirety of his own show.

    6: Shou-Lao

Speaking of Iron Fist, let’s talk about Shou-Lao! Or, at least it was implied that was Shou-Lao’s skeleton, I’m still unclear on that. But the moment where the camera pans out, and we see the skeleton posed in the same position as the tattoo on Danny’s chest, well, that was just so cool. And it was so mean that the Hand was taking his bones to make ‘the substance’! They should be ashamed of themselves!

5: Defenders v.s The 3 Fingers of the Hand

So, at this point Sowande had already been decapitated and Alexandra had been impaled. Which left us with Gao, Bakuto, and Murakami. Now I already didn’t like any of these guys, which a credit to the actors, so I was waiting for them to get their butts handed to them. So when Daredevil, Luke, and Jessica meet them in that parking garage for a smack down super slam, I was very pleased. Number one, they introed like bosses, and then the actual fight was great! Daredevil throwing down with straight up ninjas, Luke and Jessica pulling combo moves on Gao, that Colleen Wing assist at the end. And it didn’t hurt that the fight was paralleled with Elektra throwing hands with Iron Fist!

4: Luke Cage v.s Iron Fist

“Just remember, you started this.” What a scene. The first time we get to see the Heroes for Hire share the screen, and they throw down in a very satisfying brawl! I love how Iron Fist kept coming at Luke, who seemed to genuinely not care as he tossed poor Danny from wall to wall. I felt bad watching Danny try his hardest, whipping out all of his Kung-Fu mastery, and Luke just taking it. But when he busted out the Iron Fist, phew, you bet Luke was heated! I would have loved to see that outcome, had the cops not shown up. But nonetheless, great fight.

3: Jessica Jones MVP Part 2

I’m a sucker for pure feats of heroism. Iron Man saving all those people from Air Force One, Spider-Man lifting a building off of himself, Nick Fury saving FitzSimmons, heck, even Flash running up into that time vortex in the end of season 1. I doubt many will disagree with me when I say that the single most heroic moment in the show was Jessica holding that elevator after the cable snapped. Full disclosure, Jessica Jones was my least favorite of the Netflix MCU shows, but this moment here was simply breathtaking! Jessica Jones MVP! Again!

    2: Daredevil Returns

Just as I love acts of heroism, I hate it when heroes quit. They bum around the city, 90% with an unkempt goatee, while they grit their teeth and clench their fists as cop cars drive by, wishing they could do something about it, but they can’t because they’re quitters. So when Matt finally decided to be Daredevil again, I was so happy. And I’m not talking about stopping those muggers after the earthquake, I mean when Murakami was about stab the crap out of Jessica and straight up Daredevil swoops in to save the day. Trish’s astonishment at the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen personally saving her friends was priceless. And the scene where he interrogated Sowande was great, making Daredevil the right amount of tough and terrifying. Daredevil is my favorite of the Netflix MCU shows, so this was a great moment for me.

    1: Battle in Midland Circle

Was there any doubt this was number one? All four Defenders throwing down in a hallway, Elektra looking all scary and fighting like a boss, Luke Cage and Iron Fist teaming up. I mean, Iron Fist hiding behind Luke Cage as he took on gunfire was flat out comic book TV show goals! I’ve lost count of how many times I watched it, and as a matter of fact, I’m gonna stop talking about it and just go watch it again.

So what was your top 10? Do you agree with mine? Comment below! The Defenders was great, and I can’t wait until they return!

  • Brand New Defenders Trailer #SDCC

A new Defenders trailer is here right of Comic Con! And this time we get a clearer picture of what’s going to bring our street-level heroes together. Sigourney Weaver is brainwashing a newly revived Elektra into taking her position in the Hand, which we learned she was destined for in Daredevil season 2. I really like the shock in Matt’s voice when he realizes she’s alive, and it looks like he’s going to attempt to connect with her (we’ll see how that turns out).

I think it’s also worth noting the chemistry between all of these guys. Aside from Luke and Jessica, we haven’t really seen any of them together. And even that has a complication since the last thing Luke said to Jessica (of his own free will, aka un-Kilgraved) was calling her a piece of poo. Which wasn’t cool Luke. But that tension was illustrated, even in a short moment, with Luke calling after Jessica as she walks away from him, right when Sigourney suggests that their alliance is temporary.

But the nice little comedic interactions between them are wonderful, and Jessica’s cynical attitude is a great foil to all of them. The way she discounts Danny’s energy as being Chi and makes fun of Daredevil’s costume is welcome levity in an otherwise dark corner of the MCU. And I have to admit, I felt a little sorry for Matt when Luke didn’t want a hug! Not cool Luke!

Also, it looks like everyone from Foggy to Patsy, and Stick to Bakudo are back to play supporting roles, and I think that’s actually an advantage the shows have over the movies. Think of it this way, a movie is only so long, so when the first Avengers happened, and everyone was asking “Where’s Rhodey?” and “Why isn’t Jane Foster there?”, the answer is simply there wasn’t enough time to get them all in. But in a show, you can have Colleen Wing in one episode and Misty Knight in the next. I think it’s a rewarding payoff for five seasons of following not just the heroes, but their amazing friends as well.

The Defenders is coming to Netflix August 18. Until then, this fun little New York Bulletin website should curb your anticipation a bit: http://nybulletin.com/
