Top 10 Last Words in all of Marvel

Hey there True Believers! So as I'm sure you're aware, a lot of heroes have fallen in the Marvel Universe, but some of them make sure to drop an awesome final line before they go out! Some don't even have to die, but their final interactions with certain characters can be just as memorable. So I've gathered my list of the top ten last words across all of Marvel! I'm talking comics, shows, movies, here are the final words of Marvel heroes that will stick with me forever!

*Note, this list, being about last words and all, goes into the deaths of a lot of characters, so watch out for Spoilers!

10: Elektra

"This is not the end..."

Elektra Natchios, Daredevil S2E13

As Daredevil is holding a dying Elektra in his arms in the Season 2 finale, these are the last words she utters to the man she loves. Marvel fans know Elektra comes back after she dies, but still, this leaves just the right amount of hopeful and ominous in the hearts of viewers. She's literally dying, and her final choice of words are it's not over! Perfect dialogue for Elektra considering her story, and perfect last words.

9: Living Laser

"Imagine that. I'm the guy who saved Iron Man."

Arthur Parks, Iron Man: Armored Adventures S1E21

Living Laser was dying throughout the episode, his own energy tearing him apart. Tony was the only one that tried to help save him, so when M.O.D.O.C. (that's not a typo, in this show he was Designed Only for Chaos) spilled the beans on Iron Man's identity, Laser decided to use everything he had left to help save Tony. A touching and heroic sacrifice from a villain, and last words that just tug at the heartstrings!

8: Heimdall

"Allfathers... let the dark magic flow through me one last... time.

Heimdall, Avengers: Infinity War

Heimdall was in a bad place from the moment Infinity War started. He couldn't help Thor or Hulk fight Thanos, the Black Order had Loki dead to rights, it was bleak. So with his final breath, he summons the Bifrost one more time and sends Hulk to warn the Avengers of Thanos's arrival! It cost him dearly, but it was a brave sendoff for the Guardian of the Bifrost. Not to mention it tied up that issue most people had with Thor getting back to Earth in The Avengers after the Bifrost had been destroyed.

7: Mary Jane

"Face it Tiger... you just hit the jackpot."

Mary Jane Watson, Amazing Spider-Man #545

One More Day is probably nobody's favorite Spider-Man story. But I'd be lying if I said watching Mephisto tear Peter and MJ's marriage apart wasn't emotional. This was one of only a few times that reading a comic book made me cry. And the fact that Mary Jane's last words to Peter were also her first... oof. They knew what they were doing. Right in the feels.

6: Black Bolt

"Goodbye, brother."

Black Bolt, Inhumans S1E8

When Black Bolt speaks, people listen! Of course that's because a mere whisper from him could level a mountain, so he uses his words sparingly. Black Bolt had one line in the entire 8 episodes of the Inhumans show. And he used it not only to say goodbye to his brother, but to trap him on the moon forever. Such a powerful moment, and a successful use of his one line.

5: Madame Masque

"You and I found something on the bottom of the ocean. And I tried to turn it into something beautiful."

Whiney Frost, Avengers: Black Panther's Quest S5E23

The Avengers Assemble show didn't have much in terms of relationships you could get behind, but one of them was Hawkeye and Whitney Frost. They bonded in Season 4 and were found working together on an ancient washed up Wakandan ship in Season 5. Of course, when this ship turned Whitney into Madame Masque and slowly drove her insane, it had to go. She used everything in her power to save her discovery, but when it's clear she's going to lose, she turns to Hawkeye and says this to his face before getting dragged down and blown up. Hawkeye's reaction alone was enough to warrant this inclusion.

4: The Watcher

"I see you."

Uatu, Original Sin #1

Brilliant writing. Just, who thinks of this!? Uatu, who's sole purpose in life is to watch people, and observe universal events, turns to his killer and says "I see you." Perfect, perfect, prefect. Original Sin was worth it for this line alone! I will never not love that these were Uatu's last words.

3: Mysterio

"People, they need to believe. And nowadays, they'll believe anything.”

Quentin Beck, Spider-Man: Far From Home

So, I mean, come on. He's not dead. Seriously, his last words were literally people will believe anything! He's not dead! And I don't know about you, but I think that this is the perfect closing line for the Master of Illusion. All it was missing was a director saying "And... scene!" Honestly, Mysterio is the best big-screen adaptation of a Spider-Man villain since Green Goblin. And this line as his last just confirms it.

2: Jean Grey

"Mutation, it is the key to our evolution. It is how we have evolved from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward."

Jean Grey, X2: X-Men United

As X2 comes to a close, and we pan over Alkali Lake, we hear the voice of the recently deceased Jean Grey reciting a speech about mutation, and how it effects evolution. This "Evolution leaps forward" speech in and of itself is amazing, but the fact that Xavier opened the first movie with this speech, word for word, makes it that much cooler. And as if all that wasn't enough, just as she says the final line, we see the Phoenix appear ever so faintly beneath the water. Talk about Evolution! This scene will always give me chills!

1: Iron Man

"I am Iron Man."

Tony Stark, Avengers: Endgame

You knew this was number one. Again, who thinks of this stuff! Tony Stark, the man that started the MCU, and ended the first movie with the famous words "I am Iron Man". This is just a full circle ending at its finest, and honestly, the best last words from any character in all of Marvel history. This moment is one of those cinematic staples that will be immortalized with the greatest film moments of all time! I am Iron Man, then a snap to save the universe. The MCU mic drop, and the heroic sacrifice we will never forget.

That's my list! Did I miss anything? Let me know below, and as always, Face Front True Believers, and I'll see you in the Multiverse!
