Venom: The Last Dance – Is it Really the End?

Venom’s final movie is out, but is this truly the end for Eddie Brock and his Symbiotic pal? And what’s this I hear about an Agent Venom movie? Is Knull still a threat!? Find out in today’s Merry Marvel Mayhem!

Venom: The Last Dance definitely could have been a lot better. As the final installment in this Venom trilogy, I feel like it just didn’t deliver on that big finale feeling. With attention divided between too many new characters, a reason for the title character to be absent most of the movie, and the lack of real connective tissue to the first two movies, The Last Dance just couldn’t stack up to the rest of the trilogy. Rumors of an Agent Venom movie are swirling, I personally think Sony needs to stop, but I guess we’ll see. I mean, Knull has to fight someone…

What’d you think True Believers? Am I wrong? Is this actually the best of the three movies? Vote in the poll below and let me know what you thought in the comments! That’s it for now, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!

What did you think of Venom the Last Dance?

  • Spider Man 2 Turns 20!

    Spider Man 2 Turns 20!

Spider-Man 2 came out 20 years ago, so in today’s Merry Marvel Mayhem we’re going down memory lane as I relive the full, authentic 2004 Spider-Man experience!

Spider-Man 2 was, is, and always will be, one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. You’ve heard my story, but what about you? Hit the weekly poll and let me know when you first saw Spider-Man 2!

That’s all I’ve got, see you next week for more Merry Marvel Mayhem! Until then, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!

When did you first see Spider-Man 2?

  • Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman SAVED Uncle Ben!

Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman SAVED Uncle Ben!

Julia “Cornwall” Carpenter saved Uncle Ben in Madame Web. How do I know? Well, walk with me True Believer, and let’s find out together.

There is a scene in the end of the film where Madame Web see’s Julia’s Spider-Woman stopping a criminal who appears to be in the middle of breaking and entering.

First off, from the moment I saw the movie in theaters I clocked this guy as Uncle Ben’s killer. Why? Because he’s wearing the same getup usually seen on who is canonically called “The Burglar”. The brown jacket over a yellow shirt, green pants, and some form of cap. It varies, depending on the comic or iteration, but this is the base design.

Second, we can see in this shot (from the Blu-Ray extras, a scene not in the actual movie) Adam Scott’s Ben Parker coming home with groceries. Now remember, unlike in the Tobey and Andrew movies, in the comics Uncle Ben was killed in a home invasion. The layout of the house is not the same as earlier in the film, but that’s because he was staying in Mary Parker’s house while Richard was out of town, so it’s safe to say this is Ben’s house.

The important thing to note about this scene is that it takes place in the future. Ben is wearing glasses that he didn’t have in the film, and probably now needs because he’s older. And you’ll notice a flat screen TV, when earlier in the film we were looking at an old 4:3 television set. So definitely an indication that some time has passed.

But is this the house that Spider-Woman is in, stopping the Burglar? Well, yes. Let’s take a look at this shelf. In both shots you see this speaker, a trophy, and a photo on top.

You’ll also notice a flashlight on the floor. In the confrontation scene, when the Burglar stumbles over the couch, he’s got a flashlight that he appears to drop, as he’s only holding a gun in the next shot.

Still don’t believe me? Well, the last piece of evidence, which I probably should have looked up first, is a credit on IMDb that lists Michael Papajohn as “The Burglar”. The same man who played The Carjacker, aka Dennis Carradine, in Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 3 (2007).

So there you have it! Spider-Woman saved Uncle Ben! What a cool detail. It probably explains why Spider-Man hasn’t shown up in any of these SonyVerse movies! Because Uncle Ben is still alive. Is that enough evidence? Do you believe me? Vote in the weekly poll below, and let me know any other theories you’ve got in the comments. That’s it for now, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!

Do you believe that Spider-Woman saved Uncle Ben in Madame Web?

EDIT: Yeah, so… I’m dumb. Julia Carpenter is in the room. This proves everything. Including that I wasted a lot of time…

  • Spider-Man Returns to Theaters!

    Spider-Man Returns to Theaters!

That’s right True Believers, Spider-Man, the original 2002 movie, returned to theaters on April 25, 2024. And I finally got to see it for the first time on the big screen! I detailed my entire experience below in the first episode of Merry Marvel Mayhem!

I loved finally getting to see the movie that changed my life in an actual theater. I still have distinct memories of my time in the theater watching every other Spider-Man movie that swung into cinemas after the initial smash hit 22 years ago.

Since this was the film that kicked off my love for Spider-Man, I wasted no time ordering my tickets when Sony said they were putting it back out for a theatrical rerelease! Armed with the only Spider-Man 1 shirt I have that’s not made for a 9-year-old, my ToyBiz Super Posable Spider-Man, and a little plushie names Traveling Spidey I got years ago, I made my way to the cinema. Being surrounded by so many fans of Spider-Man simply there to celebrate his return to the big screen was such a magical experience!

What about you True Believers? Comment below your fondest memory of watching a Spider-Man movie in theaters. I’m also going to be doing a weekly poll! And for this week, the question is simple:

    Featured Image
Which movie in the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is your favorite?

  • General Perception of Cyclops

    General Perception of Cyclops

As most people who know me are aware, Spider-Man is my favorite Marvel hero. What not as many people know, is that my second favorite is Scott Summers, Cyclops.

So when I was at work the other day, a coworker of mine asked:

“Hey, who’s your second favorite superhero, after Spider-Man?”

“Cyclops, leader of the X-Men.” I answered.

“Oh wow,” he replied “that’s an interesting choice, not many people would think of that.”

“Yeah, that’s because he got shafted in the movies!” I furiously fumed.

“Oh yeah, didn’t his girlfriend like, break up with him and then blow him up?” This man said to me.

    I stared blankly, and blinked.

    “Yeah. That’s exactly what happened.”

I mean… what else am I supposed to say? Ignoring the fact that Jean Grey was reduced to just ‘his girlfriend’, the general public’s perception of Scott is so washed, man.

His girlfriend broke up with him then blew him up!? That’s what people think of when they think of Cyclops. Not leader of the X-Men. Not the guy with an optic blast powerful enough to blow Sentinels to dust. Not the man who puts his life on the line everyday to achieve Charles Xavier’s dream of Mutant tolerance and equality.

No. To the average man, Cyclops is the guy whose girlfriend broke up with him then blew him up. I know that X3: The Last Stand came out in 2006, so it’s not easy to recall the exact details of Cyclops’ fate, but come on! Not to mention that X-Men: Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix didn’t do anything for the character in terms of a cultural revival. So he’s just stuck with people remembering him for being the first offscreen casualty in probably my least favorite X-Men movie.

I really, really hope the MCU does Cyclops some kind of justice, because until then, that’s what people are gonna think of my guy! I can’t, I actually can’t. Justice for Cyclops! May he one day be presented as the hero I already view him to be! That’s it for now, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse.

  • Prepare for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse!

Prepare for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse!

Hey there True Believers! Are you about to go watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? Or maybe you already did, but want some more Spidey action? Face Front’s got you taken care of!

Below you’ll find a Face Front viewing list to either go into the movie with the knowledge of a pro, or get that extra dose of Thwip-ery you’ve been craving since the credits rolled!

    1. Gwen’s Origin

Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, aka Spider-Woman, aka Ghost-Spider (that’s a lot of aliases there, Gwen) has an even bigger role in this movie than she did in the first one. Lucky for you, Brigadier, the Face Front Original Spider-Man: Return to the Spider-Verse Episode 6: The Ghost, lets you know everything you need to know about Gwen’s beginnings as a Spider hero in the Spider-Verse!

    2. Spider-Punk’s Origin

So you all have definitely seen the punk Spider-Man with the spiky head and the guitar. But do you actually know Hobie Brown? Even after leaving the theater, there’s still a bit to be desired about this character’s origin. Well, good ‘ol Face Front’s got you covered with Spider-Man: Web-Warriors Episode 5: Spider-Punk! Discover Hobie Brown’s origin, and how he became the one and only… Spider-Punk!

    3. Miles and his Family

As the main character of the movie, Miles Morales gets the most play on screen. But Spider-Man: Return to the Spider-Verse Episode 9: Leap of Faith, will remind you why you love the character, and how far he’ll go to protect his family! Trust me, Miles’ relationships, familial and otherwise, are a key part of this new flick!

    4. The History of Miles Morales

Miles is the hottest Spider-Man right now! But where did he come from? How long has he been around? What role did actor/rapper/comedian Donald Glover play in his creation? Well, with Donald Glover being a close personal friend of mine (talking to him once 12 years ago qualifies, right?), I asked him myself! And you can get that answer in The Night I Met Donald Glover: A Miles Morales Story! After all, if you love the Spider-Verse movies, and you love Miles, then I know you’ll appreciate his origin story, off the page, as it were.

And there you have it fellas! I hope that you are now walking into Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as a pro, or that I’ve scratched that itchy spider bite for ya! Either way, hope you enjoyed this little viewing guide, keep it on Face Front for more stuff like this! That’s all for now, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Spider-Verse!

  • Spider-Man’s Amazing Story | Face Front Spider-Man Day 2022

    Spider-Man’s Amazing Story | Face Front Spider-Man Day 2022

Hey there True Believers! Spider-Man Day is the best day of the year, because I just go all out on Spidey! I celebrated with several videos on Face Front’s YouTube channel, and the last one of the day features my Sphero Spidey!

Watch the video below, where Spider-Man tells a heroic and touching story from his past…

I’ve had this little guy since 2017, and he has quite a few stories to tell. Although out of all of them, I love this one the most. Especially the end. A fitting tale for Spider-Man Day and our favorite hero’s Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary.

The thing that sucks is that Sphero ended support for the app that basically makes Spidey work, so now he only goes off of whatever voice commands I remember, and new users can just forget about it! Also, he has an alarm that he sets off a 6:30 am that can only be disabled from the app that no longer works, so… that’s great. Regardless, I’m just happy that I was at least able to get this story and immortalize it video form before he stops altogether.

Well, that was today’s story, let me know if you want me to upload more of them. Make sure to check out all of the rest of my Spider-Man Day activities from the Spider-Man Day 2022 Celebration page! That said, Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!

  • “Spider-Wave” | Face Front Spider-Man Day 2022

    “Spider-Wave” | Face Front Spider-Man Day 2022

Hey there True Believers! Spider-Man Day is the best day of the year, because I just go all out on Spidey! I celebrated with several videos on Face Front’s YouTube channel, and this second one is a new addition to my growing collection of poems!

In 2008 I wrote a book of Spider-Man poems for a class assignment. I’ve been uploading them to the blog, but I put this one in video form. It’s called an extended metaphor poem, titled “Spider-Wave”. Please, enjoy.

    Here is the poem transcribed:

    Spider-Man is a wave.

    Very effective.

    Washes up crime.

    Spreads very quickly.

    Covers lots of ground.

    Supplies enjoyment for certain people.

Supplies agony and pain for others.

    Great and mighty.

    Impressive and strong.

Active by day, calm by night.

Soothing to stare at, a peaceful sight.

I’ve been enjoying trying my hand at poetry and I hope you all have been too. Once I get through my entire book, who knows? I might come up with some new ones. This one was pretty special though, and I decided it was worthy of a Spider-Man Day upload.

In case you want more poetry, Click Here for my Spider-Man Haiku. And Click Here for my Two-Voice Poem, “Without You”.

Until the next poem, that’s it for now. Make sure to check out all of the rest of my Spider-Man Day activities from the Spider-Man Day 2022 Celebration page! Face Front True Believers, and I’ll see you in the Multiverse!
